Updates in Geriatrics

Older people living with multiple chronic diseases often have a high risk of adverse health events which can be modified by medicines. Despite the great potential benefit they can derive from medicines, the elderly are at high risk of experiencing medicine-related harm. Using more drugs than is clinically indicated can increase this risk. This series of lectures will look at tools for desprescribing as well as many other issues facing the aging. The goal of the 2021 Fall Distance Learning Experience is to provide pharmacists with an update on advances and updates in the treatment of conditions affecting the older adult, and to enable pharmacists to assume an active role in the management of these conditions.
