Managed Markets Overview and Skills Training for the MSL


Conference photoThis one and a half-day program is focused on providing healthcare professionals (PharmD, RN, MD and PhD) with an introduction to managed healthcare market for individuals wishing to explore and pursue a career as a medical science liaison (MSL). The curriculum is taught by subject matter experts providing real world insights in this exciting and evolving career field. The course is best suited for individuals with a clinical background and a desire to work as a clinical educator typically for a pharmaceutical manufacturer, medical supply manufacturer or health service provider.

Various healthcare industries – to include pharmaceutical and medical supply manufacturers – increasingly rely on Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to provide peer-to-peer professionals product education in addition to research and various other professional duties.  Individuals performing MSL roles are typically clinical PhDs, nurses and physicians, however clinical pharmacists (PharmDs) are by far the most common healthcare professionals hired by manufacturers.  MSLs generally are prohibited from functioning in a marketing capacity, rather the MSL routinely represents the company as the clinical expert focused on product education to medical providers and formulary decision makers.
