Objectives

At the end of this continuing pharmacy education activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe new updates in cardiovascular evidence based medicine;
  2. Apply treatment guidelines to manage a patient with heart failure;
  3. Compare antithrombotic treatment options in acute coronary syndromes;
  4. Differentiate the indications for implantable cardiac medical devices;
  5. Recommend cardiovascular risk management strategies; and
  6. Identify new antiplatelet therapy considerations.

Intended Audience

This Institute is intended for pharmacists and healthcare providers working in all practice environments.

Fees

$100 Registrations received by November 1.
$120 Registrations received after November 1.

SOP Clinical Instructors

Clinical Instructors (CI) for UW School of Pharmacy experiential courses (e.g., 740, 741 & 760) and Clinical Instructors who provide at least six lecture/discussion hours for School of Pharmacy courses may qualify for waiver of instructional fees for selected CE courses (including this Institute) offered by Extension Services in Pharmacy. Advance registration and payment of $50 for food/beverage functions is required.  Registration as a CI for this reduced fee is not available on-line; please mail, phone or fax the completed form to ESP at the address/phone/fax number indicated in this brochure.  SOP Students who are interested in attending this institute, free of charge, need to contact ESP Office at 608.262.3132 or 608.262.3130to complete their registration.

2009 Continuing Education Credit

ACPE

Extension Services in Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program has been designated as an application-based program and is approved for 6 hours (0.6 CEUs) of pharmacy continuing education credit. A Statement of Credit for continuing pharmacy education participation, based on attendance as well as completion of an evaluation can be obtained in one of two ways: 1) mailed within one month of receipt of evaluation materials provided at the program; 2) printed online after completion of an online evaluation. The online evaluation must be completed online prior to December 13, 2009.
