Web cast Agenda

The web cast has 2 separate lectures to view:

Clinical Update and Pharmacogenomics of Colon Cancer
Economics of Colon Cancer Treatement

Instructions

To receive continuing education credit, you must view the web cast, take a post-test and complete a program evaluation. Upon successful completion, you will have access to print your statement of credit from the website.

  1. Register online for Clinical, Pharmacogenomic and Economic Update on Colon Cancer. You will need to log-in with your username and password. If this is your first time taking a course through Extension Services in Pharmacy you will need to create a new account.
  2. Once registered, the course page will have links to the two lectures. Listen to the lectures and view the corresponding slides. There will also be printable versions of the slides available for printing.
  3. After listening to the lectures, select Post-Test for Clinical, Pharmacogenomic and Economic Update on Colon Cancer. Complete on-line and submit answers. You must achieve a minimum score of 70% correct. In the event your score is below 70%, you will be provided with an option to “retake” the post-test by changing the previously recorded response(s).
  4. Upon successful completion of the Post-Test, select “Evaluation of Clinical, Pharmacogenomic and Economic Update on Colon Cancer." Complete and submit evaluation responses.
  5. You will then be able to click on Clinical, Pharmacogenomic and Economic Update on Colon Cance Certificate, listed under "Statement of Credit", to view and print statement of credit.
  6. For assistance, please contact Extension Services in Pharmacy by email or 608-890-03120.

Goals & Objectives

This program is designed to provide pharmacists with current information on the clinical, pharmacogenomic and economic management of colon cancer. Upon completion of the program, the pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe the current clinical management of colon cancer.
  2. Explain the impact of polymorphisms on the efficacy and toxicity of common anti-cancer agents, including 5FU, irinotecan, cetuximab and panitumumab, used to treat colon cancer.
  3. Outline a method for incorporating pharmacogenetic testing into the management strategy for colon cancer.
  4. Describe the cost and incremental cost-effectiveness of current and emerging colon cancer  therapies.
  5. Describe innovative strategies for managing the cost of cancer care.
  6. Describe economic models that can be used to justify investment in genetic testing in general, and in colon cancer specifically.
